Marlies’ Bio
Marlies has been involved in the Winnipeg wine scene for over 25 years. During this time she has held many roles including purchaser, manager and educator – she is currently general manager at the winehouse, one of Manitoba’s largest private wine stores. She has over 20 years of experience in wine retail and is passionate about it! She believes wine is for everyone and strives to offer wine in a friendly environment - whether helping people find the right wine for binge watching a favourite show or the unique gift for a collector - she strives for the perfect match.
Marlies is an advocate for local Manitoba products and Canadian wine. She is also dedicated to growing the wine culture in Winnipeg and has volunteered time with the Independent Wine Stores Events & Promotions Committees and the Canadian Association of Professional Sommeliers – Manitoba Chapter. Marlies also believes wine is a life-long learning journey – she holds many wine and cider certifications from organizations around the world. She is currently a Wine and Spirit Education Trust (WSET) Diploma candidate. When she’s not “wine-ing” you’ll find Marlies making ice cream or on adventures with her family.
